IN PRINT - CURATION Prelude II
We take this break from our regularly scheduled Infinites to bring you another Prelude to an upcoming arc. We've done this once before...
I'm working on Curation just now. Kind of. Actually the truth be told I've finished it, but two things are bothering me about it. There's not enough drama, situations that should have you guys jumping up and down are kind of flat. I need to sharpen that a bit. The other thing that bothers me about it is that Jim came up with a belter of an ending for it and I need to reshape it slightly to try and slot it in. Not that I mind that last one, because it is a stonking idea.
Actually....
I've got it! I know how to fit it in...
But I'll finish on here first.
So, yes, Nesshead and the Infinites (sounds like a Hanna Barbara cartoon) will be back next week along with a fan favourite from the expanded universe. I'm trying to remember if I've told Jim about this, if I haven't I'm expecting an excited text during the week when the strip arrives in our inboxes.
Right I'm off to redo Curation....

IN PRINT EPISODE 68

What sad timing.
We lost Christopher Barry recently, one of the Founding Fathers of Who. Even a quick scan of his resume tells you need to know; 'The Daleks', 'The Daemons' and my personal favourite 'The Brain of Morbius'.
In fact 'The Brain of Morbius' is what makes today's strip so sad in terms of timing, apart from directing it Mr Barry also made a brief appearance of 'The Morbius Doctors'. For those of you that don't know these Doctors appeared during the Mind Bending sequence and were originally inteneded to represent the first eight (and unseen) Doctors, making William Hartnell the 9th Doctor. It didn't take however and by the time of 'The Five Doctors' Hartnell was back to being the original. An unsuccessful attempt was made to bring in some big acting names to play the first eight Doctors, but in the end eight members of the Production team stood in instead, Mr Barry included.

So that's who the faces belong to. Their clothing comes from different Gallifreyan eras and we owe a massive thank you to Sasha Lipinsky for photoshopping the faces onto the costumes to give Jim and Nesshead a good photo reference to draw them.
The Other is a character from the 'New Adventures' who may or may not be a previous incarnation of the Doctor. The reveal of this character lead to the assumption by many fans that the eight faces belonged to him.
We'll see more of them next week.
In other news Nesshead is currently wondering around Gallifrey One! If you see him feel free to go up and say hello, he's mostly tame these days.

IN PRINT - THE I FILES Part 5
And with that the Hurt Doctor joins the cast.
Of course this presents a few issues for the strip continuity, the most obvious being the accidental regeneration during 'The Great Costume Debacle', but rest assured I have a way round it and it'll be addressed later this year.

As for why we had Mr Hines dressed up as the 2nd Doctor? Well quite frankly the man has form as you can see from the picture. Actually that's probably the coolest bit of cosplay I have ever seen. As it happens Jamie is still my favourite companion, even after all these years. The fact that he's Scottish helps, but a big part of it is the easy chemistry he shared with Patrick Troughton. The two of them were an absolute joy to watch on screen.
Next week we have a Guest Print from Paul Salvi and then we'll be returning to the regular arcs. 2014 is all planned and the final tweaks are being made to the scripts. It's going to be a fun year.

IN PRINT - THE I FILES Part 4

Can you imagine what might have happened if the Matrix had picked up on his guilt over any of the destructions of Gallifrey? 'Day of the Doctor' may have retconned his genocide of the Time Lords, but the attempted genocide of the Daleks (and this is at least the 3rd effort) would have been enough to condemn him.
Hmmmm.

IN PRINT EPISODE 65

For everyone who ever wondered what happened to the real Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy from last year's Christmas Special; well here's the answer.
Did any of you see it coming?
I have a vague plan of where this strip is going, but sometimes plot points come at you out of no-where, like when we saw this version of the Eye of Harmony room (or Cloister room if you prefer) and it just fitted in perfectly with Grandfather Paradox hijacking the Eye of Harmony.
There's 5 more strips to go before this arc ends and I promised Jim and Nesshead time off over Christmas, so I have a guest arc and artist lined up for a 5 week block. Jesse Lax and myself have been preparing a 5 part arc that we really hope you'll enjoy. We've certainly had fun putting it together.
All things being even though we should be here next week with part 6 of the Grand Tour and from there we'll be making it up through to 2014.
See you guys then.

THE INFINITES Strip 19

On a related note, we begin to see where we're going with this arc as of today. The Great Intelligence needs a change of clothes after posing as the Watcher and look at the set of clothes he's picked out. I wonder if this is going somewhere...
I try and not talk much about myself on here, but I'm going to steer away from that this week. I work as a Science Technician at a High School in Scotland. My school is currently trying to win giant Lego robots for the Physics department. Why does this concern you? Because we need people to click on 'Barrhead High' to get us votes, the school with the largest number of votes gets giant Lego robots to help teach the pupils.
Giant. Lego. Robots.
And I'd get to use them. In a professional capacity.
So, if you wouldn't mind clicking the link and choosing 'Barrhead High' that'd be much appreciated.
Next week we have... well what do we have? Where can we possibly go from the new 7 dissolving the TARDIS? Will there be an In Print next week?
Tune in same Bat Time, same Bat Chann.... hold on, that's not right. We'll see you next week and all shall become clear.
Don't forget that we have Twitter and Facebook pages and that you can support us by visiting our store and buying something.
Speaking of our Store, we have some new Tshirts that feature a recent edition to canon, go and have a look.

IN PRINT EPISODE 64
That. That right there. That, in my opinion, is the best panel that Jim has ever done.
I've just been staring at it. It's quite haunting.
Anyway, it's quite fitting that today's strip has 4 regenerated into 7. If you haven't seen Day of the Doctor yet then turn away now.
Seriously. Now.
Not in a few lines; now.
We clear?
Clear.
That, dear readers, is how you use Tom Baker in New Who. The Once and Future Doctor. Of course he was the Doctor, why wouldn't he be? He gives a nice balancing point to the Valeyard, except he's a bit more, well, solid than the Valeyard. He's what the Doctor has been looking for for a very long time; he represents a happy ending.
I love the idea that after all the adventures and wanderings are done he gets to be Tom again. It's a lovely thought and was worth the price of admission all by itself.
Between the Curator, the War Doctor and 12 (briefly) we were treated to three new (kind of) Doctors. It was fun. Certainly it had it's flaws, 7 changing costume especially bothered me, but you can't deny the love that went into that.
And did anyone else think that last scene could have been taken from the In Print Verse?

Right. Well.

I rather enjoyed that.
Lots to talk about. Lots to discuss. However for various reasons not all the team has seen it yet, so I'm going to wait until next week to tell you what I thought of it.
Short version: I really enjoyed it. It had a few flaws, but they're very easy to forgive given the sheer amount of things they got right.
The only other thing I'll say is that I am totally in love with the character of the curator. One single scene and I already love him.
Oh yeah and there's a strip. Stuff happens, but in 1D rather than 3D. We'll have more for you next week. We'll be releasing them as Jim finishes drawing them so keep your eyes peeled.
I'm off to watch it on my telly now. Won't be as cool as 3D on the big screen, but there are a couple of moments that demand revisiting.
I'm going to file it under research for the strip....

IN PRINT EPISODE 62

So that's what happens, you get five versions of the same Time Lord regenerating at once.
Right, be honest; who was expecting that?
Jim really knocked that one out of the park didn't he? So, yeah, everything just changed in the In Print Verse. We've lost two of our cast and those that are still around have post regenerational trauma and a new wardrobe to deal with. At least they will have once they deal with the Grandfather.
Presuming they do deal with the Grandfather that is...
Right, I'm booked to see 'The Day of the Doctor' at 9.30pm UK time, presuming my wee girl is doing ok. Jim's going at the same time, but to a different showing (a shame really). Anyone trying to discuss the Special with us before we've finished seeing it will be ignored. Sorry guys, I've gone this long without spoilers...
See you on the other side!

IN PRINT EPISODE 58
Right, so you ight have noticed that this isn't the next instalment of The Grand Tour fro The Infinites. You're right; it isn't. Nesshead has been having problems with his mouse pad and is a little behind schedule. I can relate; my 'm', comma apostrophe and @ key are all broken and I'm having to use the On-Screen Keyboard to access them. It's a really annoying issue.
So instead we have the next instalment of Paradox now instead and we've invoked fan service and continuity as a result. Colin Baker's beard was a fan request. These are written and drawn in advance so I forget who exactly asked for the beard -I tried looking back over past conversations with Jim, but we text/Email/PM quite a bit so it's a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack- but I' pretty sure it was one of the two Steves. The Two Steves (who needs The Two Doctors?) are pretty active on our Facebook page and when one of them suggested we should use Colin Baker's beard in the strip we felt it was only fair to oblige, also it was a pretty good way of differentiating between Six and the imposter.
We saw Six making his break for freedom a short while back and we've been hinting for a while that the six that had been in the strip from the beginning wasn't all he seemed. This revelation puts this strip in an entirely new light I feel.
It's almost as if I have a plan....
I started a new project this last week. I've started planning a book. The plan, at this stage, is that I'll write a book about the non-canon Doctors, a guide really. I'm quite excited about the idea and I'm currently working on putting a pitch together for it. The chapter summery is already in place. So if any of you happen to publish Who non-fiction books or some one who does then feel free to get in touch...

IN PRINT EPISODE 57
And so it begins. Paradox Now is going to be replacing our Christmas Special this year and as such it will be running all the way through November. In fact we are hoping to update a lot more during November, not quite daily, but certainly more than once a week.
Jim's is working away on the buffer just now, and as November begins we will make a decision on the update schedule. This is the real reason the Classic Doctors are not appearing in 'The Day of the Doctor' you know, we had them booked.
In regards to today's strip, I always wondered just what that equipment was really used for when I saw the TV movie. I mean, really, it does look as if it was designed for torture or for, well, you know....
As for Grandfather Paradox? He's from the books, the EDAs specifically. I was always struck by the coincidental similarities he shared with the 9th Doctor, you couldn't have planned it really. Jim has taken elements of 8 and 9 to create our version of the Grandfather. The leather coat and the umbrella are my contributions. The umbrella to note the fact that the Grandfather was first mentioned in 'Christmas on a rational planet' which was a NA.
So, for everyone who thought the Valeyard was the big bad? Well keep watching....
Round three of the Grand Tour next week, then we will return to Paradox Now.

IN PRINT EPISODE 56
So there we have it; this arc is called 'Paradox Rising'. I was going to talk more about the arc but quite frankly my mouth is hurting so bad that all I want to do is crawl into a quiet corner and sob.
Sorry. See you all next week.

THE PROP CUPBOARD OF OBSCURE DOOM... 6
Previous Prop Cupboard Next Prop Cupboard
No Infinites this week. It has been far too long since we brought you some exploits from the Prop Cupboard and we've had this one in reserve for quite a while now. So here it is. You guys get to enjoy it and Nesshead gets an extra fortnight to get started on his contribution to the 50th Anniversary. I got some preview art from it the other day and you guys are going to love it!

The Time War with the Daleks had it's beginnings in the Classic series, Genesis of the Daleks in particular, but I always wondered how they hoped to take on the Time Lords given that the Movellans fought them to a standstill.
By the next time I see you I am hoping to have had my copy of Scream of the Shalka delivered, so expect some thoughts and comments about that to be voiced. Hopefully they'll do Curse of Fatal Death next.

IN PRINT EPISODE 54

Actually, apart from the fact he has both arms 9 is a pretty good fit for Grandfather Paradox. And he did lose a hand in the next regeneration...
Seriously though I'm glad we're doing this arc just now and not after the 50th Anniversary episode (has it got a name yet? I'm getting a bit fed up of calling it the 50th. I'd love for it to be called 'The Three Doctors) as I suspect that the Hurt Doctor may end up being the one that destroys Gallifrey and I'd have to rewrite a whole arc because I had lost a throw away observation.
You'll also have noticed that we still haven't revealed the name of this arc. Tell you what; we'll reveal it in a couple of strips. How does that sound? After all it's not as if we've given you any clues. Honest.
In the meantime if you care to hazard a guess then the comments section is all yours.
So did everyone enjoy the glimpse into the past of the 'Fatal Death' Doctor last week? How would you all feel about seeing more like that? I hope everyone answered "yes" to both those questions or you are not going to enjoy the next few Infinites strips. I know I'm looking forward to them.
Don't forget that we have Twitter and Facebook pages and that you can support us by visiting our store and buying something. In particular Nesshead has put some rather funky Cybermen stickers up.

IN PRINT EPISODE 52

Of course this plot point has since been addressed in one of those ever popular minisode type things that see to be growing in popularity. But still, that's not what's really important in today's strip. I love the way the Watcher doesn't even change his pose slightly as the Infinites cart him away into the crossover finale, which incidentally I only Emailed to Nesshead a few hours ago, so it might not be ready quite in time.
Totally my fault. I've had some pretty serious personal stuff going on the last month or so and I've not had the chance to finish off the last script. Luckily though the rest of the scripts are written up until November, so that's that particular panic over. No. Wait. I still need to give 2ndFade some more scripts for the Prop Cupboard.
Speaking of the various strips I'm in the process of putting a reading guide together and updating the previous and next buttons so that you can read the strip as a whole a lot easier. That was due last month, but took a fair bit of a hit as well. Which begs a question, would you guys prefer the buttons at the side took you to the latest version of each strip or are you happy with the taking you to the first? They're there for your benefit, so let us know which you'd prefer.

I haven't seen Malcolm Tucker by the way. I totally missed that at the time, although Ill be catching up on that very soon. My experience of Mr Capaldi comes by way of Local Hero, The Angel Islington and Frobisher from Torchwood. We have a nice little penguin joke brewing, but you'll have to wait for that.
Yes, In very excited to see what happens next. Especially as there's been a few hints that we might see his Doctor alongside the John Hurt version. We might not have had as any episodes as we would have liked this year, but we really cant complain about the number of Doctors or the men playing them.
Can we?

Oh well.
Seven shouldn't get too judgemental though as he's blatantly missed five extra Doctors. One of whom bears a striking resemblance to a certain foe he may or may not be watching. The crossover continues next week with another strip from Nesshead.
So were you at SDCC? Nesshead was meant to be there, but missed out at the last moment to a technicality. The trailer sounded like it was a lot of fun, oh well, maybe we'll all get next year...
And it's a big thank you to all of you, our faithful readers! We hit a half million views last night. This literally couldn't have happened without you, so a big thank you fro all in In Print!

THE INFINITES Strip 10
I'd actually love to watch this version of 'The Three Doctors'. I can see the Warner Doctor in the Hartnell role; watching from a monitor whilst the other two wreaked havoc all around them.

In other news we've been selling Tshirts. Come and have a look around the store and maybe even buy a couple.
And since we're relying on you guys to buy them we'd love your feedback on what you'd like on the shirts. For example, would anything from this strip work? The Shalka Master's head with a 'my friend did a webcast and all I got was dismembered' type slogan (not my best, I didn't sleep much last night) or perhaps the Collings Doctor tied up with "He's not the Oncoming Storm, he's a very naughty boy" or even the last panel with "The Other Three Doctors".
Let us know, you're the customers after all. If you don't buy these then who will?
You can leave your ideas in the comments section, Email us at inprint@doctor.com or leave word at our Twitter and Facebook pages.
