IN PRINT - INFINITIES 1

  Previous Strip  Next Strip

So we've rebranded a bit. We've merged the main strip with The Infinites to become, well, you've read the strip before the blog. In Print; Infinities. Going forward Ness will be handling the main art duties for the ongoing strip, but the Jim fans can relax as our Jim still intends to make strips, keep his hand in and will be handling the reactions strips with the 7th and 8th Doctor which this whole project was built on.

I'm in the process of writing a few strips for the 13th Doctor era that we're hoping to get out there before the new era of Who kicks off properly. Jim has had a few ideas for Arachnids in the UK and I'm desperate to do something with The Power of the Doctor. The Guardians of the Edge could have been written for In Print I reckon and can't wait to unleash 7 and 8 on them.

Ness has a good number of scripts already finished and it's got me buzzing to kick start the narrative element again. The Timeless Child has opened up several potential ideas for the strip.

So, yeah, it's good to be back is what I'm trying to say. Very good.

THE RE-INTRODUCTION TO THE 'IN PRINT'-VERSE

We're back and it's about...

No. Stop it. That's been done to death at this point.

We've rather neglected you guys over the last few years and had a number of false re-starts. Hopefully this one sticks.

I'm acutely aware that we've been especially quiet over the 13th Doctor era. This absolutely isn't a judgement on Jodie Whittaker's take on our favourite Time Lord, it's not even a judgement on Chibnall's era. Honest.

I certainly have opinions on how Chibnall ran things, but we've always tried to be positive on here so...

But there are a few things he brought to the table that I think will have a lasting impact and legacy on Who. I know I'm not in the majority, but I loved the idea of The Timeless Child. The idea of the Doctor being crucial in the founding of Time Lord society has distinct echoes of the Other and of course I love that.

The Fugitive Doctor was a breath of fresh air and I really enjoyed the reintroduction of a bit of mystery to the Doctor's past. Expect to see her on here in the near future.

And he finally gave us closure on just who the Morbius Doctors were. That was nice of him.

He also gave us Arachnids in the UK. So you know, swings and roundabouts.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a running joke.

I'm afraid I've slowed down on updating the navigation links the last week. I'll hopefully get back into it next week.

See you all then.

Because we needed one more cast member.

As much as I enjoyed Bradley's Doctor I couldn't quite buy him as Hartnell's Doctor. So he's getting a space in this strip.

As Jim might have mentioned I turned 40 last Saturday. I'm still recovering. Was a good weekend though.

And a month from now we're getting new Doctor Who in about a month. Finally. There's a script I wrote when she was first announced that I might get Jim to revisit. Especially as I've been relistening to Exile this week.

If you're in the Glasgow area tomorrow you should come and join me at Lok's to see Peter Cushing deal with a Dalek Invasion. It'd be nice to see you.

A very quick post today as I'm knee deep in family business.

As you can see 7 and 8 have caught up with the rest of the country in regards to viewing.

I quite enjoyed Bradley's Doctor and the morphing at the start made it clear this was OUR first Doctor. Jury is still out on Richard Hurndell.

I'm approaching the half way mark in updating the navigation links. Geez we've done a lot...

And now we're referencing 'Cold Fusion'. The book at any rate. I've only listened to half the audio as I had to send my phone for repair with my review copy and by the time Carphone Warehouse admitted they'd lost it the window for downloading and listening to the review copy was gone.

Every so often they contact me to ask why I haven't gone back to them. Cold Fusion, that's why. Well that and generally crappy service.

But I digress.

We didn't get round to fixing the links this week, so possible disruption this week. What I did manage to do was go through the entire site (there's a lot of it these days) and got a list of all the broken links. I'm also planning to simplify the navigation.

See you all next week.

                                                Previous strip   Next Strip

And that's the end of this arc. Not bad considering we kicked it off in March last year.

Though to be fair it was a longer arc than we've been used to, but still.

I managed to start re-doing the navigation links in the earlier strips and managed to avoid disrupting the front page at all. Hopefully that's a trend I can keep going over the next week or so.

A brand new main strip arc starts next week and you'll see that we're starting to catch up with the main timeline. Personally I can't wait to see how Jim and Nesshead handle the 13th Doctor.

Time will tell. It usually does.

November since we last checked in on this arc huh? Jim's right, it has been a while.

But we're getting back on track. I've got some strips to send to Nesshead and Jim's got plenty to work on just now.

I'm going to be spending the next week updating our navigation links as well as our Reading Order and Archive. So there may be the odd occasion where the front page is actually an old strip. Please bear with us whilst we  mess this up, it'll be better for it in the end!

Can you believe this is actually Part 14 of this arc so far? I haven't titled or numbered each individual strip at the top of the page like I usually do.. It would make it easier just in we decide to collect up the strips in a book one day. Anyway this week we catch up on Eight and Rivers date night!
Before I go here's a reminder to join our group page on Facebook.

Hello. Can you hear me?

I'm sending this blog via Jim's Whatsapp, so apologies for the bumpy landing.

We've had a few queries about Benny turning up and quite how that fits in with our own version of continuity.

My first thought is that I'm delighted you guys care enough to spot potential gaffs in continuity. It means you've been paying attention and that you care. Heart warming and all that.

Benny was always going to turn up. She's referenced in the first few strips and not accidentally. Benny represents the NAs for a lot of people and seeing as this strip comes out of a love for the NAs and Doctor Who literature in general it seemed inevitable.

As for the how? Well in a Big Finish adventure set during the NA period, Shadow of the Scourge I think, Benny finds herself in the 7th Doctor's mindscape and in fact stumbles across a proto version of 8. So there's your precedent.

Right, I should get going. Catch you all soon.

Jim here, sorry I'm late (again) with the strip this week... Been lots going on, Alasdair and his partner had a little girl last week, so congratulations to them! I went to Cardiff to visit the Doctor Who Experience before it closed its doors for the last time. Very sad to see it go, but hopefully it will get relocated before too long.
Anyway, It looks like Seven is reading some of the finer details from The Dying Days by Lance Parkin...

And we're back again with the main strip! It's Jim here writing this week as Alasdair's off on paternity leave due to the exciting little person waiting to arrive in his and his partners lives. Thanks to Ness for last weeks Infinites strip, hopefully we'll be seeing more from him later in the year. This week we introduce a new character into the InPrint'Verse but a very familiar one to the fans of the New Adventures and Big Finish. And let's face it we've been discussing her in the strip since the very beginning. Welcome Bernice Summerfield!

This was written long before the 13th Doctor was chosen, but it really doesn't read like that does it?
There was a slight mix up last week and I referenced a strip that I've written but that Jim hasn't drawn yet. It's hopefully coming soon and it'll confirm that we here at In Print Towers are very much in favour of the new Doctor.

In other news I've just sent Jim a whole new batch of strips to Jim and Nesshead will be getting some soon as well. Sorry for the delay in getting things back to normal.

                                    Previous Strip    Next Strip

We're back and it's about time.

And yes, this strip is a ringing endorsement of the In Print team regarding the casting of Jodie Whittaker. She's a good actress with a solid CV, anything else is purely window dressing as far as casting the Doctor goes.

We've been a wee while getting things back on track and the responsibility lies solely with me.

I don't talk much about my private life on here, but a small handful of you know my divorce was getting finalised this year. Nothing to get down about, it's very definitely for the best, but it takes time and focus to deal with these things. Also, to give things a more positive spin I met someone else last year and since then we've moved in together and are expecting next month. However in between love, babies, co-habitation and engagements I found a lump.

You don't need any further details than that, just that everything's resolved as far as that's concerned and it won't hold up the strip any longer.

Jim has a series of scripts that should take us past my paternity leave and I re-read the entire run of the Infinites yesterday and Nesshead should have new scripts in the very near future.

So, yeah, sorry about the gap, but a massive thank you to Mike and 2ndFade who kept it smaller than I could have hoped.

It's good to be back.

I've been toying with introducing River ever since 'The Name of the Doctor', since she obviously has some kind of connection. So here she us!!

There might be a slight delay before the next strip whilst we deal with writing buffers.

By which I mean I've lost the damn scripts and we haven't finished unpacking yet...

I for one believe him.

As you can see it's still the Nth Doctor from the Infinites masquerading as Mr Briggs. Speaking of the Infinites; there's more of them coming soon as well. I spent some time discussing them with Nesshead on Friday. Some fun stuff coming very soon.

So, Doctor Who is back. It's been fun, hasn't it? I'm especially enjoying Nardole, which has been a pleasant surprise as I couldn't stand him in either Christmas special.

I'm not complaining.

So. Multiple Masters huh?

Once again we find details ourselves accidentally ahead of the trend.

In all seriousness this has been needing done for years and I can't wait to see how they do this.

Aha! Plot development!

It's been a while, but I'd recognise it anywhere.

April's on us at last and the Doctor won't be far behind. I, for one, can't wait.

Apologies for the late posting, my partner moved in with me a week or so back and we're still living out of boxes.

Normality resumes.... ah sod it. You're never getting normal here and quite frankly I wouldn't thank you for it.

See you all next week.

I'm back and it's about...

Actually. No. I use that line far too often.

But I am back. Plot moving forward now and as you can probably tell we're about a year behind, but I don't think we'll be long catching up. See gap years are good for something

And we have a new Doctor coming up. Jack Davenport anyone?

IN PRINT - It's Coming...

                                              Previous Strip   Next Strip

It's coming. And it's about time.

Nice weekend strip thrown together by Jim based on the recent trailer. We're almost back to a regular strip update, but I didn't give Jim much time to draw the first one.

I've missed this. Things have been a bit different this year, but a status quo is close to establishing itself and the strip will very much be part of it.
