IN PRINT - 104

                                             Previous Strip   Next Strip

And there we have it. For those of you that hadn't cottoned on yet there are now two versions of ten floating about the Print Verse. He really should have been here years ago. It was my son that pointed it out to me, he has a fairly firm grasp of numbers for his age and has been studying the Doctor's regenerations intently thanks to having 'Legacy' on his tablet. Once I explained to him about the War Doctor and the Metacrisis regeneration he's since insisted on calling the War Doctor Nine instead and Ten has become Eleven and Twelve. And he knew it was true because my 'Infinite Doctor' print has both versions on Ten in it. It was only really a matter of time before he asked how many Tens were in In Print and once he did....

Yeah, so this arc may have been kick started by a conversation at the Glasgow DW Society, but it's been my son's refusal to let go of a concept that's kept it rolling.

In other news I got to read a advanced copy of Battlefield thanks to The Doctor Who Companion. What did I think of it? Well you can read the answer here. Knowing me and alternate Doctors you can probably guess....

IN PRINT EXTRA 6

                                                 First Previous Next Latest

We've not had an 'Extra' for a while, so here's one that Jim had hiding on his hard drive. I'm actually finding the strip a bit eerie as myself and Tone had been discussing a similar joke for The Wrong Doctor. As it happens we opted not to use it in strip and Tone put his own spin on it to make a Tshirt, which you should all go buy, but like I said it's a little eerie seeing it turn up somewhere else.

I've finally finished writing the Christmas Special, much to Jim's relief. I was looking over the art so far when I realised we were at page 15 and still had a few pages to go. Maybe we should have had this printed, what do you guys think?

A few of the pages I've been sent it a little similar to the Target cover Jim's put up today. Partly because some of them are drawn by 2nd Fade and partly because... well I can't tell you why. Not just yet at any rate.

Anyway, as it stands you'll be seeing the entire story published live on the page on Christmas day! Or perhaps late Christmas Eve as both myself and Jim have families and our wife's may not be happy seeing us on our computers when we should be indulging in family activities.

Either way; it'll be available at Christmas. And like a certain other popular show we may have a few surprise guest stars; celebrity and Sontaran. Stay tuned.

For the record; we had our Sontaran booked long before anyone knew that one would be appearing in the BBC's Who entry for Christmas.

I'd love to say great minds think alike, but I suspect it was pure luck.

Right time for me to go, but before I do just enough time to remind you to check out our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

See you all next week.

IN PRINT EPISODE 29

                                                            Previous Next

I've never got the big deal about Rose. I don't hate her, I just don't see her as the trail blazer that everyone else does.

"Finally a companion that can look after herself." Except Ace could do that. Come to think of it so could Romana and Sarah Jane.

"She's a match for the Doctor." Not nearly as much of a match as Liz Shaw.

But it was the complaints about the implied relationship between the two that annoyed me. "The Doctor wouldn't fall in love with a human."

Wouldn't he? Tell that to Sarah Jane, Grace, Emma or Romana. The Doctor has always been close to his companions and the line always had a tendency to be blurred with some of the female ones. None more so than Jo Grant as featured in today's comic.

To my mind Jo was the first time the Doctor fell head over heels for a human. Don't believe me? Then have a look at this clip of them saying goodbye and tell me the Doctor isn't broken hearted.

Yet despite this people still get upset about the Doctor and Grace in the TV Movie.

But we're all ignoring the really obvious question here; just how did the third Doctor smuggle Jo into the Matrix?

Anyway, this is the start of a new arc and there's only going to be more questions as time progresses.

Bad Wolf bay always reminds me of Jacopo Camagni. It was his rendition of it that first drew my attention to his work and got him involved with the DWRS. The bay always seems to bring the best out in artists, for example I never asked Jim to draw it. I just had the lines of dialogue coming from the television set.

I'm quite glad Jim went this way instead, sets the tone nicely doesn't it?

Now available to pre-order is The Comic Strip Companion by Paul Scoones. The book covers the years 1964 to 1979 and is a full guide to all the Doctor Who and Dalek comic strips that appeared in annuals and comics such as TV Century 21 and Countdown.
Paul has a been a friend of the strip almost from the start, but that's not why we're plugging his stuff. Ok, it's not the only reason we're plugging his stuff. The man knows his Who comics and this book is likely to provide quite an education on the subject. He's also agreed to write the introduction to the In Print book, but only if more people say they want it. Only a couple of folk have shown interest so far sadly.
Paul is an accredited expert on all things 'Who' and writes production information subtitles for the classic range of  Doctor Who DVD's as well as having writing published in Doctor Who Magazine. In fact the very same magazine has an interview with Paul this month - issue 449, in shops now.
The Comic Strip Companion is available to pre-order right now at  our In Print store here.

As always don't forget to like our Facebook page and we are also on Pinterest now too.
