The Gallifrey Exchange #3

                                                Previous Strip     Next Strip

And now I want to re watch The Brain of Morbius. Thanks Jim!

However I'm currently doing this from my mobile and it thinks I want to watch The Brain of Morris. Hmmmmm.

Normal service is edging closer. Nice hope to have scripts to Jim by the end of the week.

Eh, that's it for this week. I'll see you all next week.

IN PRINT - CLIFF NOTES

I honestly hadn't thought too much about it when I first started coming up with the idea of 'In Print'. I just knew that I loved the old multi Doctor stories and the fact that the Doctor can never get on with himself. I'd just finished re-watching them all, mostly because I'd read 'Cold Fusion' by Lance Parkin shortly before that and it had made me nostalgic.

Lets all be thankful that it wasn't Paul Cornell's entry for the 'Timewyrm' series instead, if I'd read that before I started doing 'In Print' then I would never have started. The trip into the Doctor's mind in that book is very, very close to how I see the strip's reality working, although Paul's version has more ambition and scope. That and some of the imagery featuring the poor 5th Doctor just wouldn't work for the humourous tone of 'In Print'.

Luckily though I read 'Timewyrm: Revelations' months into the strip's run. I spent about a fortnight panicking about it though.

Anyway, the point is that I just plonked 7 and 8 down in the TVM TARDIS and figured that people wouldn't question the logic of that given that this was a blatantly non-cannon comic strip.

I underestimated the pedantry of Whovians.

The above strip chronicles my various attempts to explain just what's going on. Although Handles puts it most succinctly, my favourite remains the Shalka Doctor's explanation.

In other news I've been reading 'Engines of War' the last few days. It's not been sold as such, but it is definitely a PDA. It ticks all the boxes; features a past Doctor and is published by the BBC. I'm halfway through and loving it so far. If I'm reading it right it also features a semi regular member of our cast, but I'll confirm that on Gallifrey Base once I've finished reading it, not before.

Plans are still a little in flux for next week, but rest assured we have a Plan A and Plan B. So there'll be something new for you guys. See you then!

THE INFINITES - Strip 31

Now wouldn't that be a very cool team to have on Legacy? At this point in the time the only ones of them actually available is the War Doctor and K9, although we've been promised Ace in the reasonably near future.

Perhaps we should start the campaign for Frobisher here and now. What's the worst that could happen?

For those of you who have been wondering, and indeed those who haven't as well, I've included the team I've been playing with.

I keep feeling the urge to make up an 'In Print' team, but you can only have one Doctor and K9 is the only character available that's really been in the strip.

Unless you count the Adipose. You may have noticed that Jim likes throwing them in every chance he gets. But that still leaves us a good bit off getting a solid 'In Print' team put together.

Anyway, time I was moving. Next week sees the return of Jim with 'The Fall of the Eleventh". It'll see two new cast members joining us.

I wonder if either of them appear in Legacy...?

IN PRINT EPISODE 64

That. That right there. That, in my opinion, is the best panel that Jim has ever done.

I've just been staring at it. It's quite haunting.

Anyway, it's quite fitting that today's strip has 4 regenerated into 7. If you haven't seen Day of the Doctor yet then turn away now.

Seriously. Now.

Not in a few lines; now.

We clear?

Clear.

That, dear readers, is how you use Tom Baker in New Who. The Once and Future Doctor. Of course he was the Doctor, why wouldn't he be? He gives a nice balancing point to the Valeyard, except he's a bit more, well, solid than the Valeyard. He's what the Doctor has been looking for for a very long time; he represents a happy ending.

I love the idea that after all the adventures and wanderings are done he gets to be Tom again. It's a lovely thought and was worth the price of admission all by itself.

Between the Curator, the War Doctor and 12 (briefly) we were treated to three new (kind of) Doctors. It was fun. Certainly it had it's flaws, 7 changing costume especially bothered me, but you can't deny the love that went into that.

And did anyone else think that last scene could have been taken from the In Print Verse?

THE INFINITES Strip 16

Given the re-release of some 2nd Doctor episodes this week it seems pretty fortunate that we've chosen to focus on a 2nd Doctor story this week. Kind of.

This is more a behind the scenes type affair, but seems like a good point to cause some divergence and chaos in the Doctors time stream. It also appears to be an origin of sorts for the Web of Caves Doctor, certainly within the In Print Verse, bet none of you were expecting that.

This is, of course, the Time Lords deliberating on the face of the 3rd Doctor. If you've seen The War Games, and if you haven't correct that soon, then you'll know that the 2nd Doctor refused to choose a face, so the Time Lords chose for him. The gentlemen sitting in the background are the faces that were flashed up as options. They were done as fairly basic pencil drawings and Nesshead has done a great job of fleshing the out.

So where are we going next week?

Don't forget that we have Twitter and Facebook pages and that you can support us by visiting our store and buying something.

IN PRINT EXTRA... 7

Spoilers.

Maybe, perhaps, could be.

Probably not though.

There is a strip here, it's just underneath this text to give you guys a chance to decide if you want to risk being spoiled. In my opinion we've presented nothing but fan speculation and as such the strip is a perfectly safe read. But it wouldn't be the first time we've managed to hit the nail on the head completely by accident as a community.

Let's just say that it involves the casting of the Anniversary episode. Someone not unfamiliar to being cast in genre media. Someone who may, or may not, be dressed in some familiar clothes and a very familiar coat.

Anyway, the strip is just underneath. Make your mind up and I'll talk to you again in a moment...

                                           First Previous Next Latest

And there you have it; possibly the first bit of fan art of John Hurt as the new 9th Doctor. Or 8 and a half Doctor. Or something like that.

I personally think that Jim has knocked this one out of the park. In fact I have the initial sketch he did for this strip and if I ever get my own office then it'll be getting hung up there. It'd be a hell of a shame if John Hurt wasn't the Doctor now.

Maybe we'll find out tonight if he is. Who knows? Apart from the handful of Americans who recieved an advance copy of the DVD, I've kept out of their way though. I'll find out once my kids have gone to bed, much like I did for 'Nightmare in Silver'. Which was fun, wasn't it? I certainly enjoyed it. The last time Neil Gaiman wrote for the Doctor we got the wonderful 'The Doctor's Wife' which spawned this Extra for us and later introduced the character of Mrs T into or strip. 2nd Fade is currently working on our second Gaiman themed strip and I look forward to showing it off.

In the mean time I plan to go back to bed and try ignoring the rest of the world until I can commandeer the living room telly for myself.

How hard could that possibly be?

We can be disturbed through Facebook and Twitter as always.

BEING DALEK...

                                                         Previous Next

Something that some of you may have seen before today. This is the guest strip that Jim and myself did for the Daily Dalek earlier this year. We've been meaning to show it here for a while, but we've always had another strip that needed posting to keep up with the plot schedule.

But not this week; so here it is. If you've not been reading the Daily Dalek then it's a brand new strip for you, but you've been missing out on a cracking  strip.

The Wrong Doctor, a collaboration between myself and Tone from the Daily Dalek, is coming along nicely. We can't wait to show it off for you guys.

In other news pages for our Christmas Special continues to make it's way into my Inbox. you guys are really in for a treat this year. I have just have one more page, maybe two, to write and it's done from my end.

Another thing you should know about and be waiting to read in eager anticipation is Fan Fiction Illustrated.

They're desperately low on support though. Go and like their Facebook page and think about ordering a copy of the magazine itself.

Tell them I sent you

I spent most of this week on a Physics course for my day job, so I'm going to leave the laptop alone now and concentrate on something that involve physics in any way, shape or form. Whilst I'm doing that you guys should remember we're on Twitter and Facebook.
