IN PRINT - 106

                                                          Previous Strip Next Strip

Yes that was my little swipe at people that thought the War Doctor was perhaps the Master or the Valeyard despite having 'as the Doctor' in big flaming letters right next to him the very first time he appeared.

I love the Valeyard, you might have noticed, but I really do get tired of all the 'It's the Valeyard!' yelling each time someone vaguely resembling him or an aspect of him appears. The only exception being the Dream Lord, I mean just look at the direction of 'Amy's Choice' compared to 'The Ultimate Foe'. Not only have the same root (darkest part of the Doctor type stuff), but the teleportation plot device they both use are directed identically!

Anyway, safe to say this new 10 is not the Valeyard, he's just what he appears to be, an earlier form of 10.

Jim was saying to me the other day how chuffed he was that we had enough strips that we could do flashbacks. For my part I was ecstatic to finally address the 8 to 9 regeneration we did in one of early strips. It's been annoying me ever since 'Day of the Doctor'.

In other news I've started back with Loose Canons, a conversation about self publishing with a friend of mine has given me the much needed kick I was needing, More on that in the coming weeks...

IN PRINT EPISODE 57

And so it begins. Paradox Now is going to be replacing our Christmas Special this year and as such it will be running all the way through November. In fact we are hoping to update a lot more during November, not quite daily, but certainly more than once a week.

Jim's is working away on the buffer just now, and as November begins we will make a decision on the update schedule. This is the real reason the Classic Doctors are not appearing in 'The Day of the Doctor' you know, we had them booked.

In regards to today's strip, I always wondered just what that equipment was really used for when I saw the TV movie. I mean, really, it does look as if it was designed for torture or for, well, you know....

As for Grandfather Paradox? He's from the books, the EDAs specifically. I was always struck by the coincidental similarities he shared with the 9th Doctor, you couldn't have planned it really. Jim has taken elements of 8 and 9 to create our version of the Grandfather. The leather coat and the umbrella are my contributions. The umbrella to note the fact that the Grandfather was first mentioned in 'Christmas on a rational planet' which was a NA.

So, for everyone who thought the Valeyard was the big bad? Well keep watching....

Round three of the Grand Tour next week, then we will return to Paradox Now.

IN PRINT EPISODE 55

Actually we don't tend to talk about Series 23. Mostly because it was a dark time to be a Whovian; The Trial that made up that series was more than a little metaphorical and its extended suspension was in serious danger of becoming cancellation.

Colin Baker gets a lot of the blame for what happened, but he just hasn't earned any of that blame. I love what he did with the material he was given at the time and Big Finish has shown us the heights that his Doctor could have reached given a proper chance. His recent reading of the Rings of Akhaten hammers that point home even more.

Who else would love to see other Classic Doctors reading New speeches? Paul McGann reciting 10s description of the Time War from The End of Time? Peter Davison reading the Doctors description of who is is from Rose?

Tom Baker reading the end credits?

But I digress (these shoes!), Series 23 has something else for which it should be remembered the Valeyard. He remains a powerful concept, one that got watered down in last minite editorial changes and confused story points. But he has never. ever, been forgotten. His name check in The Name of the Doctor got me really excited that he may be coming back. Perhaps Michael Jayston could reprise the role?

Anyway.

Next week we have the beginning of The Infinites Anniversary Special and the week after that we reveal the name of this arc and kick of the Anniversary celebrations in earnest.

Join us wont you?

IN PRINT EPISODE 54

Actually, apart from the fact he has both arms 9 is a pretty good fit for Grandfather Paradox. And he did lose a hand in the next regeneration...

Seriously though I'm glad we're doing this arc just now and not after the 50th Anniversary episode (has it got a name yet? I'm getting a bit fed up of calling it the 50th. I'd love for it to be called 'The Three Doctors) as I suspect that the Hurt Doctor may end up being the one that destroys Gallifrey and I'd have to rewrite a whole arc because I had lost a throw away observation.

You'll also have noticed that we still haven't revealed the name of this arc. Tell you what; we'll reveal it in a couple of strips. How does that sound? After all it's not as if we've given you any clues. Honest.

In the meantime if you care to hazard a guess then the comments section is all yours.

So did everyone enjoy the glimpse into the past of the 'Fatal Death' Doctor last week? How would you all feel about seeing more like that? I hope everyone answered "yes" to both those questions or you are not going to enjoy the next few Infinites strips. I know I'm looking forward to them.

Don't forget that we have Twitter and Facebook pages and that you can support us by visiting our store and buying something. In particular Nesshead has put some rather funky Cybermen stickers up.

IN PRINT EXTRA 6

                                                 First Previous Next Latest

We've not had an 'Extra' for a while, so here's one that Jim had hiding on his hard drive. I'm actually finding the strip a bit eerie as myself and Tone had been discussing a similar joke for The Wrong Doctor. As it happens we opted not to use it in strip and Tone put his own spin on it to make a Tshirt, which you should all go buy, but like I said it's a little eerie seeing it turn up somewhere else.

I've finally finished writing the Christmas Special, much to Jim's relief. I was looking over the art so far when I realised we were at page 15 and still had a few pages to go. Maybe we should have had this printed, what do you guys think?

A few of the pages I've been sent it a little similar to the Target cover Jim's put up today. Partly because some of them are drawn by 2nd Fade and partly because... well I can't tell you why. Not just yet at any rate.

Anyway, as it stands you'll be seeing the entire story published live on the page on Christmas day! Or perhaps late Christmas Eve as both myself and Jim have families and our wife's may not be happy seeing us on our computers when we should be indulging in family activities.

Either way; it'll be available at Christmas. And like a certain other popular show we may have a few surprise guest stars; celebrity and Sontaran. Stay tuned.

For the record; we had our Sontaran booked long before anyone knew that one would be appearing in the BBC's Who entry for Christmas.

I'd love to say great minds think alike, but I suspect it was pure luck.

Right time for me to go, but before I do just enough time to remind you to check out our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

See you all next week.
