It's taken long enough for the Doctor to be Irish. As we've previously discussed he's been Scottish plenty of times, but Irish is new.
I'm usually a proponent of the Doctor needing to be played by a British actor, but I'm willing to make an exception on this occasion. (I may or may not be of Irish descent.)
As I have certainly said before I am absolutely a fan of the Timeless child aspect and I loved the addition of Brendan to the list of Doctors. If you consider the Time Lords to be an expression of the British upper classes then it makes sense for the Doctor to come from a people that have historically disdained the British.
Ahem.
So, still no news about Doctor Who coming back. We seem to be freewheeling into a prolonged hiatus. Which raises an interesting question: if this hiatus where to spawn it's own line of NAs/EDAs which Doctor would you want on the front line? Gatwa's 15th or Piper's 16th? FDAs or SDAs?
This has occupied more of my head space than I care to admit. That and would Lance Parkin come back for such a line?
