I'm rather pleased with that line. "A figment of the collective imagination", at the risk of blowing my own trumpet I really like that as a description of the Doctor.
Think of any version of the Doctor. Any at all. Whichever Doctor you've thought of has multiple interpretations, different writers bringing their own take. No single Doctor exists in a single medium. The comic strips brought us a version of the 6th Doctor that Colin Baker wasn't allowed to portray before Big Finish got their collective hands on him.
We get our answers about the 14th Doctor next month, but, as always, the narrative we're presented with won't align with the ones we've individually constructed in our heads.
