Right, hopefully you all recognised Babylon 5 as this weeks other Science Fiction franchise. If you didn't then you need to correct that right now!
Babylon 5 lasted for five seasons. J Michael Straczynski had a 5 year plan for the show and managed to tell one, largely consistent, story over that time. There was a slight stumbling block when Season 5 nearly didn't get commissioned and so he pulled some elements from his season 5 plan into season 4 to ensure the fans got closure. This was a show that cared about the story and its characters.
Oh the characters.
They were flawed in ways heroes in franchises seldom get to be and were incredibly grounded and real in a fantastic universe.
Really; if you haven't seen it up to now then your in for a real treat.
Nesshead and I made extensive use of Youtube for visual references and have both been left with an overwhelming desire to watch the whole thing from start to finish. Luckily I can just speak nicely to my brother-in-law and borrow his box sets of it, but poor Nesshead doesn't have access to a copy. If anyone is in a position to lend him some then give him a shout. I kind of feel responsible for his predicament....
And yes; that last panel does feature Frobisher fighting in the Time War.
In other news many of you already know of Paul Hanley and his rather wonderful collection of Doctor Who art. Paul has very kindly allowed us to use his designs for the Other, Warner Doctor and Collings Doctor for which we remain grateful.
We were over the moon to learn that Paul is now an officially sanctioned BBC approved Doctor Who artist. He'll be providing alternate covers for the première issues of Titan's new Doctor Who range. You can see the interlocking covers here.
This is the culmination of years of hard work for Paul and it couldn't have happened to anyone more deserving.
